| Children and Disney
There is no doubt that the Disney experience appeals to the child in all of us and kids generally love Disney vacations. However, there are some other aspects of a Disney vacation that offer even more opportunity for kids to be involved.
Disney Birthdays
Celebrating a child’s birthday at any Disney resort is a special occasion. Any of the restaurants at Disney will help you celebrate if you let them know it is your child’s birthday. All of the theme parks have special birthday buttons that your child can wear, too. These buttons will get them extra special attention anywhere they go in the park. In fact, it is not difficult to plan a special birthday lunch or miniature golf party at Disney. A little online research will turn up a goldmine of information about birthday packages.
Disney Events
Make sure to check the calendar of events for the Disney resort you are planning to visit. Most events not only hold interest for adults, but also provide entertainment and activities for children.
Holidays at Disney are often marked with special celebrations and parades that offer even more excitement and spectacle. Christmas is especially celebrated with candlelight parades and nativity scenes, light shows, choirs and the chance to explore other country’s customs. Christmas is also the busiest season for both Disney World, Florida and Disneyland, California.
The Wonderland Tea Party is an exclusive children’s tea party hosted regularly by the Alice in Wonderland characters. Drinks, lunch and craft activities are planned. Check with the resort’s Guest Services for schedules.
If your child has a favorite Disney character you might plan a dinner in which your child can join his or her favorite cast. Have a budding chef? Explore the options for children to attend a little culinary cooking class. Sign your kids up for an evening child care camp where they will not only be well cared for—freeing you up to enjoy some adult entertainment—but will enjoy crafts, games and the social time with other children.
Children with Disabilities
Visitors of all ages with disabilities are welcome to the Disney venues. Guest Services has audio devices for the hearing impaired and Braille guides for visually impaired. Most areas of the theme parks are wheelchair-friendly and some allow service animals.
